Religious Diversity Maps
Researchers of the Center for Religious Studies (CERES) at Ruhr University Bochum explore religious diversity and plurality on very different levels: Some projects as the Käte Hamburger Kolleg "Dynamics in the History of Religions" focus the historical dimensions of this field of study. Others, as the research group "Networking Religion" for young CERES researchers limit the analysis on regional tendencies of religious pluralisations, while student projects are only limited to the recent status quo and a very small local scale.
MAPPING RELIGIONS LOCALLY AND GLOBALLY
As the co-ordinating institution of the Plureligion Network, two projects in the research on religious plurality and religious diversity at CERES are of special importance:
- the research project Religiöse Vielfalt lokal - regional - global on religions in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia
- the development and visualisation of a Global Religious Diversity Index as a source for further research.
Both project use different forms of mapping religions and religious diversity.
